House Tour, Part Two

We will be keeping up with updated pictures and source lists on the House Tour page. For now, we thought it would be fun to post some before pictures and get our lists started and out there.

I hope you had a good long weekend! Ours was filled with family, weddings, and general rowdiness that comes with dating a guy that has 6 siblings. Oh and college football. How I have missed you.

You saw Friday our outside, and probably realized we have our work cut out for us. Now on to the fun stuff inside!

I snatched this from the David Weekley site but this is our house! All 1664 square feet of it. Walking in the front door, you are greeted by... yup. A pretty empty, soon-to-be once we find the right table, dining room. The doorway to the left heads to the living room, the doorway to the right heads to the second bedroom and office.

Hard to even call this room a dining room without a table so that's at the top of the list:
  • Find a table and chairs
  • Possibly a rug
  • Art
  • Umbrella holder
  • Find a catch all tray

Following through, here's the kitchen. Painted maroon.

Pardon the mess. I was chasing daylight, fixing leftovers, and watching Seinfeld. You can also sneak a peek at the new deer head painting I whipped together over the weekend in between hosting a party for 30 (hence the CO2 tank and hidden keg) and general weekend festivities.

Since the house is newer, the kitchen cabinets are fine. Not my choice of color but I don't see a need to change them since they are in such good, usable condition. We just recently bought new appliances which was a welcome change from the "rental" white.

In here, I want to:
  • New countertop
  • New back splash
  • Reorganize
  • New rug
  • New faucet

Next to this is our breakfast nook.

Yup, that's my mat cutter sitting out... need to go stick that back under the bed!

We have four chairs, but as you saw on Friday, the other two were out back getting their last coat of paint. They were black Eurway (circa 2006) but over time, had some chips due to wear and tear. We thought the yellow would be a nice surprise. This is also where we keep Gatsby's bowls and basket of goodies. He is also spoiled to the doggie door Huynh installed. Lucky dog.

Turning around is our living room.

The yellow chairs are following me...

So this time last year, we actually got this couch on Overstock and I still absolutely love it. It's so comfy, our favorite color, and sleeps two people super comfortably. The pillows are West Elm, picked up a couple of months ago when we were killing time in Austin and the rug, well, has seen better days. The bar stools were picked up last week at Target for cheap because we knew we would need the extra seating and the bean bag? I don't even know.

This room is in need of:
  • New rug
  • Sideboard
  • Side table
  • New coffee table
  • TLC

See that cute UT piggy bank? That's our vacation fund. Feel free to drop in a few cents next time you come over. It would be appreciated :).

Phew. Up next, we will tackle the rest of the house.
