Today

Today is one of those days. I woke up this morning knowing that it was going to take more than my normal two cups of coffee to get me going and alert. I stopped setting an alarm months ago and just rely on hearing Huynh get up and move to know when it's time for me to move - which normally happens well after he is out the door. My own version of snoozing. This morning, however, I "snoozed" even longer than normal which put me in the worst rush hour traffic resulting in me being late to the office. Work has been so draining which doesn't ease when I know that vacation is next week; coincidentally, the same week as deadline. I take comfort in knowing that my bed is waiting for me when I get home in the evening - next to our nightstands that Huynh painted and stained for us. The perfect addition to our bedroom.

He's such a keeper.

"&" it's about time

As I said yesterday, we were rather busy this weekend with some house goodies... one being that I finally painted my Canton find!

It started out a little worse for the wear - along with a $7 price tag (though I think I paid about $1 for it) - all it took was a couple of light coats of primer plus a couple of light coats of oil-rubbed bronze to bring this, rather heavy, baby back to life!

We are working on built-ins for the master bedroom where I believe this will reside. I love how it turned out and it only took me 3 months to get it done. Better late than never is what I always say?

Maybe

I got a "maybe..." when I commented to Huynh that one of these would look awesome above the bed.

What am I doing this weekend?

Turning a "maybe..." into a "yes, definitely!".

Happy weekend. I've already been celebrating :).

Freakin' weekend

Since I obviously can't tell you what I want to get Huynh for our one year anniversary - yes, I already know, and yes, you will have to wait until October 6, 2013 to find out - what I can show you is a piece of art that may work in above the bed. I like it, the colors are perfect... the size may be a tad small. But tis beautiful. Happy Thursday.

Bedroom thoughts

I'm a weird sleeper. It takes me forever to actually get to sleep - I've been known to play games on my phone until way late, but that's only when I have completely exhausted all of my google reader posts and news articles - but then, once I'm actually asleep, I am knocked out until the alarm.

Huynh on the other hand is snoring before his head hits the pillow. I envy him. He has the ability to still his mind at such speeds that I haven't even started to think about closing my eyes before he has done it and reaped the benefits of blissful slumber leaving me to to daydream about having the ability to do such a thing.

Orrr I just daydream about redecorating our bedroom.

{tasha; throw pillow}

{brunschwig & fils; upholstered chair}

{west elm; duvet}

{west elm; euro shams}

{grey line linen; headboard}

Drapery? Still haven't decided. Other pillows? Figure I need to get the room assembled first. Of course, we also have alternate bedding. I'm thinking for that, we will need a throw pillow in this fabric while maintaining the rest of the color story. I'm excited. Let's get this started.

Friday

Hung horizontally over our new king sized bed (soon!), I think I have found the one... Maybe. Now I just need to find this within my self-imposed master bedroom reno budget and I will be good to go!

Today we are meeting with two photographers and one baker - slightly excited. Tomorrow is a cuties six year old birthday party followed by family dinner where we are celebrating my dad's 65th birthday. Sunday... we nap. Ha. Have a great weekend!

Kings and Queens

We are debating making the jump. We currently are rather snugly in our queen bed... at least I thought so. The problem: I am a hard sleeper, don't hear thing. Huynh is a super light sleeper, probably even wakes up to the sound of traffic on I-10. And we live about 15 miles from it.

So what ends up happening is I unknowingly take up well over half of the bed subconsciously seeking out heat while Huynh is wide awake wishing he had more space. Hence the need for something bigger. Enter the king sized bed.

Obviously, our first place to look was West Elm for something low and chunky and Huynh came across this one. I love it and have big plans - that may (and probably will) include a tufted headboard, IKEA hack, and a new chair. Time to get cozy.

Bedroom jealousy

Jenny offers up an amazingly informative tutorial (peg board who knew?) on diamond tufted headboards over at her blog today. Seriously jealous havetohave. Check it out - you'll want to move to NYC just so she would be able to decorate your apartment.
